Lecturers from the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Program Conduct a Community Service Project in Permata Baru Village
Faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program conducted a Community Service (PkM) activity in Permata Baru Village, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Regency, on September 16, 2026. The activity was enthusiastically received by the community because it presented useful information that is easy to apply in daily life.
The series of activities began with an educational session on the use of African leaves as a herbal plant with the potential to help lower cholesterol levels. Next, participants received training on making an ointment made from dewa leaves, which can be used as a natural alternative for treating minor wounds.
Not only that, but the faculty team also provided training in ecoprinting, using various types of plant leaves to create natural patterns on fabric. Through hands-on activities, participants learned to create ecoprint products that can be applied to clothing and bags, thereby adding both aesthetic and economic value.
This activity is expected to enhance the community’s knowledge and skills in harnessing the potential of local plants to create products that benefit both health and environmentally-based entrepreneurial creativity.
