Faculty Members from the Civic Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Unsri, Conduct Community Service
To that end, faculty members and students from the Civic Education Study Program (Prodi PPKn), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Sriwijaya University (Unsri) provided guidance on the creation of educational media.
The creation of learning materials using the Canva app was provided to teachers at Srijaya Negara Junior High School in Palembang.
The initial phase of the activity was held at the Civic Education Study Program Laboratory on the FKIP Unsri campus, on Jalan Ogan, Palembang, on Saturday (August 13, 2022).
During the initial phase of the training, the teachers were provided with materials on educational media and the steps to create a Canva account. They also learned how to use the application; the session began with a pretest on the material and concluded with a posttest.
The Team Leader and Coordinator of the Civic Education Program at FKIP Unsri, Sulkipani, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that this mentoring activity for the creation of educational media is also part of the university’s community service program (PPM).
“This is one of the programs we conduct regularly, and it is funded by the University of Sriwijaya’s non-tax revenue (PNBP),” said Sulkipani on Monday, August 15.
In addition to Sulkipani, several other faculty members were involved in the activity, namely Edwin Nurdiansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd., Camellia, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Aulia Novemy Dhita SBK, S.Pd., M.Pd. A number of students also participated.
He explained that the objective of this PPM program was to provide guidance—specifically to teachers at Srijaya Negara Junior High School—in creating IT-based learning materials using the Canva application.
“Of course, this is to improve teachers’ skills in creating engaging IT-based learning materials that can be used for free and accessed anytime they’re online,” he said.
Sulkipani added that following the initial session on Saturday, August 13, 2022, the teachers independently created Canva-based learning materials tailored to their respective subjects.
