Unsri’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the South Sumatra Regional Police Continue Their Research Collaboration on Performance
"After the South Sumatra Regional Police determined that the findings of the FISIP research team could improve public satisfaction, the performance research collaboration—aimed at measuring public satisfaction with the public services provided by the South Sumatra Regional Police over the past two years—will continue in 2024," said Muhammad Husni Thamrin, Chair of the FISIP Unsri Research Team, in Palembang on Friday.
He explained that, based on the results of the research conducted in 2023, public satisfaction with the services provided by the South Sumatra Regional Police was found to be quite high, with a satisfaction rate above 80 percent.
""Based on the research, which involved 573 respondents, one unit within the South Sumatra Regional Police achieved a satisfaction rate of 79 percent—namely the Traffic Unit—though this figure is still considered good," he said.
The study’s findings have been reported to the South Sumatra Provincial Police Planning Bureau, which collaborated with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Unsri, and distributed to work units and district police stations across the 17 regencies and cities within the province.
Several complaints raised by the public regarding poor service or factors contributing to low satisfaction were detailed in the report so that they could serve as considerations for the Provincial Police Chief, District Police Chiefs, and unit leaders in determining policies for personnel development and improving the quality of public services.
Through these efforts, it is hoped that the quality of public services within the South Sumatra Regional Police will continue to improve, thereby increasing public satisfaction, said the Chair of the FISIP Unsri Research Team.
The Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the South Sumatra Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Toto Wibowo, added that his office has benefited from the research conducted by the FISIP Unsri team, which will serve as a basis for planning personnel development and improving public services.
“We would like to thank the researchers for their excellent cooperation in studying public sentiment and satisfaction levels; all the results will be documented and used as a basis for leadership in determining policies to improve services,” said Senior Commissioner Toto.
