Visiting Unsri KKN Students in Pajarbulan, Acting Regent Hopes Students Will Help Reduce Stunting Cases
Muara Enim Khatulistiwa News—Through the application of their respective fields of study, students are expected to make positive contributions to society. This was stated by the Acting Regent of Muara Enim, Kurniawan, AP., M.Si., during a visit to students participating in the 96th Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) of Sriwijaya University (Unsri) in Pajarbulan Village, Semende Darat Ulu Subdistrict, last Monday (June 6). With a specific focus on preventing and reducing stunting—a condition of stunted growth in toddlers caused by chronic malnutrition—the Acting Regent hopes that the 106 students, spread across 9 villages in 3 subdistricts—namely Sungai Rotan, Muara Belida, and Semende Darat Ulu—will be able to assist the Muara Enim Regency Government Muara Enim in eradicating cases of stunting.
The Acting Regent, who was accompanied by the Commander of Military District 0404 Muara Enim, Lt. Col. Arh. Anwar Rimba, S.I.P., M.I.P., and Muara Enim Regency Regional Legislative Council member Kasman, expressed appreciation for the implementation of the thematic KKN in Muara Enim Regency. In his view, the focus of the issues raised by the Unsri Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) is highly appropriate given the real-world conditions currently faced by the community. With the knowledge they bring, he is confident that the students can help raise public understanding and awareness of the importance of proper nutrition—from pregnant women to toddlers—as well as the need to avoid early marriage.
Furthermore, the Acting Regent urged the students to conduct a thorough assessment and be observant of the potential resources in each village so that these can be developed into economic sources capable of improving the community’s well-being. Meanwhile, Masayu Luthfia Natasya, a KKN student from the Dental Medicine Program, Faculty of Medicine, expressed her gratitude for the Acting Regent’s visit and guidance. She also expressed her delight at experiencing the community’s hospitality and the beauty of Semende’s natural scenery.
