The event took place in several areas on the Unsri Indralaya Campus in Ogan Ilir Regency, said the Chair of the Community Service Team for Fisheries and Agribusiness Technology at Unsri, in Indralaya on Saturday.

He explained that the activity aligns with the government’s vision to pioneer and advance MSMEs, particularly those that utilize local potential.

“The utilization of lotus seeds in Ogan Ilir Regency is one effort to harness local potential, as lotus seeds are readily available but have not yet been fully utilized,” he said.

According to him, lotus seeds, which have nutritional content beneficial to health, can be developed into various processed food products.

Various processed food products can be made from lotus seeds, such as emping, tempeh, noodles, cookies, and others.

The lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is a floating aquatic plant commonly found in flooded areas.

People often refer to the lotus as “teratai” because of the similarity in the shape of their flower crowns; although both are aquatic plants, the lotus actually has distinct physical characteristics.
