Unsri requires all faculty members to engage in community service
"Unsri faculty members should not limit themselves to teaching duties alone but must also engage in research and community service in accordance with the Tridharma of Higher Education," said Professor Anis Saggaf following Unsri’s 59th anniversary celebration in Palembang on Friday.
Until now, faculty members have focused only on two activities—teaching and conducting research—while many have neglected community service.
Through the momentum of the anniversary—marking the university’s 59th founding anniversary (1960–2019)—which adopted the theme “Reinforcing the Outcome-Based Tridharma of Higher Education in Support of the Internationalization of Sriwijaya University,” community service has become an obligation for all faculty members without exception, said the rector.
Unsri faculty members, who possess a wide range of expertise and academic capabilities, are encouraged to organize and develop community service initiatives by applying science, technology, and the arts to promote the well-being and progress of the community.
They are also encouraged to provide guidance and foster the development of students’ talents, interests, critical thinking, and well-being.
“The presence of faculty members and students in the community through ongoing service is expected to enhance Unsri’s role in addressing social issues and supporting development,” said Prof. Anis Saggaf.*
